FORLAB RPMI 1640 Cell Culture Media
RPMI 1640 medium was originally designed specifically for lymphocyte culture. It has since been found to be suitable for a wide range of mammalian cells, including HeLa cells, Jurkat cells, MCF-7 cells, PC12 cells, PBMC cells, astrocytes, and cancer cells. It is one of the most widely used culture media, especially for suspension cell culture.
The unique effect of RPMI 1640 medium compared to other media is due to the presence of glutathione, a reducing agent, high concentrations of vitamins, biotin, vitamin B12, PABA, high concentrations of vitamin inositol, and choline, which are not found in MEM and DMEM.
This product contains amino acids, vitamins, inorganic salts, and other ingredients required for cell culture but does not contain proteins, lipids or any growth factors, so this product should be used with serum or serum-free additives.
